Connection with Heaven

Connection with Heaven

I've been painting fields of flowers and pondering CONNECTION and I have some lovely scriptures to share with you.

What does connection with heaven mean to you? I know this is broad, which is why we visually have a field of flowers instead of just one single flower. But isn't that incredible? Our connection with heaven has so many beautiful facets to it.

I thought about prayer

I thought about covenants

I thought about family history and the linking a family tree through temple ordinances

I thought about the atonement

I thought about gratitude and seeing the hand of the Lord

Each of the scriptures included in this week's printable is tied to one of these ponderings. I hope they inspire you to look at ways to connect with and spend time with God in your day.

Connection with Heaven

What a beautiful connection: Jesus Christ is the only one who knows exactly what you are feeling. And not only does he know, but he desires to fill those needs, to help you and lift you in a way that only he can.

This is a point of connection I want to work on, asking God throughout my day with a pause and a prayer. A prayer I started saying the last couple of weeks is: “I don’t know what to do with this problem, will you please guide my next step?” Pausing in the middle of something to say a prayer is a step of faith. An experiment. And I’m discovering no question is too big or small for Heavenly Father.

I love this because of the context of this scripture is at a time where there were many hardships for this people, and yet their connection to heaven, their prayers and fasting transformed their experiences. The Lord sustained them. They were blessed with joy and consolation. 💌

I love this scripture, a very personal blessing given to Emma, that is applicable to me and you. The level of opposition she and Joseph experienced is beyond my imagination, and yet they sacrificed with devotion and love for the Lord. Covenants are exactly what we need and can rejoice in connecting with heaven and know we are not alone in the work we are called to do.

Our connection to heaven is also bound in our love for those who have passed before us. Because of the ordinances of the gospel, because of our savior’s willingness to execute the Father’s magnificent plan, because of his atoning blood, we are not lost and neither are our kin. The family connections are not lost.

Don’t forget to create time to slow down. Is there an activity you can do that helps you create that space? Go for a walk, ride with the radio off, paint, or dig in the garden. What will you do?

Be sure to join my newsletter so you don't miss new scripture cards each week. I'm also on instagram sharing these scriptures with a companion conference quote. They are a lovely mini devotional for the start of your day.
